Project goal and objective
The project goal is: To mainstream biodiversity into national, regional, and sectoral development strategies, actions and plans in Thailand.
The specific project objective is: To alleviate threats to biodiversity and ecosystem services in critical production landscapes in Thailand by integrating values of forests and other Natural Capital into policies and operations of key economic sectors.
Scope and Project Area
The project focuses on the tourism and water resources sectors, with Krabi Province selected as the pilot implementation area. Krabi was selected because of its ecological significance, encompassing interconnected ecosystems from upstream watersheds and freshwater ecosystems to coastal and marine ecosystems, as well as its status as one of Thailand’s key tourism destinations.

Natural Capital Accounting (NCA), based on the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) standards, provides a framework for measuring natural capital stocks and ecosystem service values.
